PhD Candidate
Jingyu Xu is currently a PhD candidate (40th cycle) in Design and a member of the MADEC Research Group. Her PhD project is funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC).
Her research adopts a design-led perspective and focuses on the circular regeneration of discarded ceramic materials, exploring how processes of material transformation can contribute to more sustainable and culturally meaningful futures for ceramics.
The research is primarily grounded in fieldwork conducted in Jingdezhen, China, and is further informed by comparative perspectives from Italian circular design practices. Methodologically, it integrates Material-Driven Design, sustainable design strategies, and co-design approaches.
